Why choose us?

Primary teachers who teach the British curriculum are native English speakers and have trained in the UK. Secondary teachers are either native British speakers or have completed their studies in the UK and specialise in the British curriculum. Teachers of the other languages (Spanish, French and German) are also native speakers from these countries. This feature of the school is unique in our region, facilitating a truly trilingual educational experience.

Our teaching method is different. We do not simply require our students to memorise and recite, but stimulate their curiosity, questioning and problem solving skills. We strive to ensure that children can apply their knowledge in different situations and are enthusiastic about learning. We offer cognitive testing and personalised learning.

Our students achieve excellent results in their A Level, IGCSE and EvAU (Selectividad) qualifications, opening the door to prestigious Spanish and international universities.
We offer a wide range of extra-curricular and sporting activities and unique opportunities for Secondary students. These include: the Jávea Marine Volunteer Programme, the Model United Nations (MUN), the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and the ISP Buddy Exchange Programme, which gives our students the chance to study for a month at one of our ISP centres around the world.
We celebrate music and art, giving each child the opportunity to internalise their creativity and develop their confidence. Public speaking is also encouraged through debates, class assemblies and talent shows.
Our school is a member of the renowned NABSS (The National Association of British Schools in Spain). The curricula (British and Spanish) are accredited by the British Council. We are an authorised examination centre for IGCSE and A level examinations by the Edexcel Examination Board in London.

Our history

International School Andalucía was founded in 2009 with pupils from Nursery to Year 3 in Espartinas, Seville. Over the years the school has expanded rapidly. In fact, the original site proved to be too small and in 2010 the school moved to its current location in Sanlucar la Mayor, Seville. In June 2018, The International School of Andalucía became a member of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), a group of like-minded schools committed to driving high standards of teaching and learning. The new partnership between ISA and ISP has brought new investment and renewal, as well as additional expertise.

Our school offers a full British curriculum complemented by two subjects from the Spanish curriculum. We have pupils from 2 to 18 years of age.  Pupils live in a multicultural environment, with 25% of our students coming from over 20 countries, which enriches learning.

Students in secondary school take I/GCSE and A-Level examinations in a wide variety of subjects which enable them to enter higher education at universities in Spain and around the world. ISA students have gone on to study in a number of countries including Spain, USA, England, France and Belgium, and the school actively promotes strong connections with our growing list of alumni.

ISA is a member of the National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS), and is a certified examination centre for Cambridge and Edexcel international exams along with ESOL exams.

The school promotes a balanced, holistic and student-centred approach to education. We aim to develop confidence in our students and place emphasis on improving their public speaking skills. As part of this, the school offers opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, Model United Nations and the International European Youth Parliament alongside the academic curriculum.

Our students are supported by their teachers, and in addition by Student Support services including EAL and Learning Support, Psychological and Cognitive services and Pastoral Care.

ISA parents are welcome in the school at any time and the school is committed to education. Friends of ISA is a parent group specifically focused on building our school community by organising events designed to increase family involvement in the school’s social and academic events. The school has an active and influential Student Council where our students are also listened to.

ISA strives to always focus on communication, collaboration and cooperation with our parents and students, whilst always putting the development of the children first and promoting its five values of: Self Improvement; Responsibility; Respect; Kindness and Fairness.

Learning based on practice and understanding

At INTERNATIONAL SCHOOOL ANDALUCÍA we believe in the transformative power of education. We are a British school, offering our students a holistic education and bilingual development as our language of communication is English. We work together with an attitude and a growth mindset based on our values:  personal best, responsibility, empathy, honesty, creativity and teamwork.

For us, each student should be valued as an individual and we are proud to be part of each student’s journey. We are committed to preparing them to go out into the world with positivity, purpose and confidence, along with all the academic, social and problem-solving skills necessary for future success.

Our learning methodology is different from what you may experience in the Spanish education system. The learning approach focuses on the student as a learner and seeks to develop critical judgement and a passion for learning, through active strategies and a motivating dynamic that promotes student independence.

Learning has no limits

The use of stimulating environments and resources inside and outside the classroom is encouraged and students develop their learning through understanding, as they are actively involved in research, problem formulation and solution finding. They are encouraged to apply, evaluate and create with the knowledge they acquire in a way that builds on their strengths and gives them the tools they need for academic and personal success.

Teachers base their classes on a combination of methods and approaches to meet the different needs of the students and the different objectives of the classes and courses.

Teamwork and learning opportunities are planned for students to work together and collaborate, which in turn develops the good relationships and community spirit and values that are so important to human beings.
